Kirrilee Turns Heartbreak Into Pop Anthem With New Single Go Away (Garbage Tip)

Melbourne pop artist, Kirrilee, returns with her cheekiest release yet—a bubbly breakup anthem that proves taking out the trash has never felt so good. Following the success of her previous single Happy, which spent seven consecutive weeks on the AMRAPCharts, and recent singles that won awards and earned airplay across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, the pop artist Kirrilee is back with Go Away (Garbage Tip), an unapologetic breakup anthem about finally knowing your worth.

Go Away (Garbage Tip) has a unique style of bright, city pop production, well-suited to Kirrilee’s ongoing synth-pop discography. The song’s cheeky but brutally honest lyricism captures the moment after heartbreak when sadness gives way to confidence. Rather than dwelling on what was lost, the track celebrates the freedom that comes with walking away from someone who never deserved you in the first place. Written by Kirrilee alongside Australia renowned producers Ace Madden and Brodie Travers of Noise Candy Collective, the song transforms emotional frustration into something playful, empowering and impossible not to sing along to. Wrapped in bubblegum-pop aesthetics and tongue-in-cheek humour, Go Away (Garbage Tip) invites listeners to laugh, heal, and leave the emotional rubbish where it belongs.

Known for writing songs that feel "like the group chat got leaked," Kirrilee continues to build a reputation for fearless honesty. “I think I’ve had enough weird dating experiences to write a whole album,” Kirrilee says, “but ‘Go Away (Garbage Tip)’ felt like the perfect place to start. I wanted to capture the humour in those situations and turn the chaos into something fun. A lot of my music is deeply emotional, but this time I wanted to lean into my sense of humour and write an unapologetically playful breakup anthem that people could laugh, sing and heal along with. It’s cheeky, but also serves as a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh, move on, and take the garbage out.”

The release follows a breakout year for the Melbourne artist and designer. Alongside the sustained success of Happy, Kirrilee has received major support from community and commercial radio stations across Australia and internationally, been featured by publications in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Europe, won awards and titles for her music, and continues to cultivate a rapidly growing online fan community through interactive livestreams, Discord events and creative visual campaigns.
