Kirrilee Announces New Single “The View”; A Heartfelt Reflection on Helpless Love

Melbourne-based dream pop artist Kirrilee unveils her latest single, “The View,” a deeply emotional track written from the perspective of someone watching a loved one endure heartbreak and mistreatment in a toxic relationship.

“I wrote this song whilst watching my best friend go through a really awful relationship with someone who treated them like garbage, didn’t appreciate them, and hurt them continuously,” Kirrilee shares. “All I could do was be there for her whilst she went through this awful thing. After a particularly terrible interaction with the person, she called me, but I was house-sitting three hours away, so we could only talk on the phone whilst she cried. All I wanted to do was give her a hug and tell her it would be okay, but I couldn’t. So instead, after getting off the phone, I sat down and wrote this song for her.”

Written on guitar during a quiet week away from home, “The View” captures the ache of wanting to protect someone you love while being powerless to intervene. With its raw vulnerability, and heartfelt story, the track showcases Kirrilee’s soft vocals with production that slowly turns up the intensity the longer the track goes on.

Following the success of her recent single “When The Lights Go Out,” which earned multiple radio plays and widespread praise for its honesty and intimacy, “The View” continues Kirrilee’s journey of exploring the complexities of love, empathy, and connection through her music.

“The View” will be available on all streaming platforms on the 17th of October.

“When The Lights Go Out” is available everywhere from the 5th of September 2025.

Kirrilee crafts pop music for the romantics, the overthinkers, and the ones who feel everything all at once. It’s music that feels like THAT group chat got leaked — messy, honest, and way too relatable.

Based in Melbourne, the pansexual artist-designer blends glittery synths and diary-entry lyrics into emotionally rich songs that hit you like a late-night overthink and echo long after they end.

Her debut EP Dreaming and Other Dangerous Behaviour introduced her world — cinematic, cloud-soaked, and unafraid to dig deep and speak up. Whether she’s exploring insecurity, heartbreak, queerness or self-doubt, Kirrilee writes with the kind of honesty that makes strangers feel seen.

With over 37,000 streams, a thriving online fan community, and visuals she designs herself, Kirrilee is building something intimate and expansive — an escape, a mirror, a safe space.

New era coming soon. Bring tissues, block your ex, and text the group chat.

You’ve been warned. ♡
